You can modify any of these sample publication articles to suit your own specific needs. You can certainly add a photograph to any publicity story you may have to submit for publication. Most publications prefer photographs as clear black-an-white prints, but they will also generally accept a good clear color photo as well.

Don’t be shy, get your news out to the public and to the OES Newsletter, or submit to the Eastern Star Journal. Your successful fund-raiser, your special activities, the awards your members earn both in Star and in their professional lives are important news and need to be shared.

Remember to ALWAYS keep your news releases LOCAL. Media like LOCAL names and events. Ascertain the requirements your local media may have for submission of news, announcements, and photographs; as well as time-lines—you won’t be disappointed with non-publishing if you comply with their needs. Contact news media prior to event so they may schedule the publicity – especially if it is desirable that they take video or photographs at the event. Media like to be notified ahead of time. Do not wait until the last minute.
